  • Invitation to Apply: Sponsors who are selected will receive invitations to submit a complete application along with all required documents within 60 days, accompanied by a processing fee of CAD 1080.
  • Application Processing: Upon submission of the applications, the IRCC typically takes approximately 20 to 24 months to process them.

 

Documents Required:

To sponsor your dependent parents and grandparents for permanent residency in Canada, you must satisfy the following documentation and eligibility requirements:

 

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Hold Canadian citizenship, permanent residency status
  • Provide proof of financial capability to support your parents/grandparents.
  • Submit medical documentation for your parents/grandparents.
  • Provide police certificates for your parents/grandparents.
  • Submit biometric information for your parents/grandparents.

 

Eligibility for Parents and Grandparents Visa in Canada

To sponsor your parents or grandparents for immigration to Canada, you must:

 

  • Be either a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.
  • Be the child or grandchild of the individual(s) you wish to sponsor.
  • Meet the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) required for your family size.
  • Agree to sign a sponsorship agreement committing to provide for the basic needs of your family members for the next 20 years.
  • Agree to reside in Quebec.
  • Ensure that the sponsored parents or grandparents are either blood relatives or adopted by the sponsor.
  • Note that stepmothers, stepfathers, or step-grandparents may also be eligible under specific conditions.
