  • An Australian student visa allows you to study at your favourite university in Australia for the duration of your chosen course.
  • You can work part-time off/on campus while studying, opt for post-study work, and apply for education loans and scholarships as per your choice if needed.
  • Based on your choice and preference, you can apply for the following student visas:-
  • Student Visa (Subclass 500) –It allows you to pursue a full-time course in an Australian university, work part-time, and live in Australia for up to 5 years.
  • Student Guardian Visa (Subclass 590) – If you wish to support a student studying in Australia under 18 years or older, you must apply for this visa.
  • Training Visa (Subclass 407) – This visa will allow you to participate in any classroom-based professional training program/course in an Australian university and stay in Australia for up to 2 years.
  • If you want to study in Australia, you need an Australian student visa. To be eligible, you must prove to the Australian Department of Home Affairs that you have met the following requirements:-
  • Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) statement
  • Proof of enrollment
  • English language proficiency
  • Health and character certificate
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) or health policy

Steps to apply for Subclass 500 Visa

  • Step 1: Apply to the Australian education institution of your choice
  • Step 2: Gather all relevant documents once application is approved
  • Step 3: Apply online for the relevant student visa
  • Step 4: Schedule an appointment for biometrics (if required)
  • Step 5: Pay visa fees
  • Step 6: Once approved fly off within the valid start date

 

Australia Student Visa Dependents

  • Australia’s Department of Home Affairs allows those applying for student visas to bring their immediate family to the country.
  • Under student visa immediate family members are called dependents and include spouse or de facto partner as well as children below 18 years.
  • Those with dependent visas can stay permanently in Australia or as long as the student visa holder is studying but can’t work.

 

Post Study Work Permit

  • Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485) or Post Study Work Permit, allows eligible international students like you, having completed education in an Australian university and received a degree, to stay in Australia and gain work experience. You can also bring your family to live with you.
  • You can work in Australia for 2 to 4 years. There is no limit on the type of work you can do or the hours you work under this visa, whether full-time or part-time. To be eligible for subclass 485 visa, you need to:-
  • be under 50 years of age
  • hold an eligible student visa
  • be granted a qualification certificate of a CRICOS-registered course
  • meet all additional requirements of your work stream
  • The visa can help you get subclass 189 or 190 work visa once you become eligible and even get a Permanent Residency in Australia. The subclass 485 visa has 4 different parts namely:-
  • Graduate Work Stream
  • Post-Study Work Stream
  • Second Post-Study Work Stream
  • Replacement Stream
  • For Post Study Work Permit, international students like you are required to:-
  • Complete 2 years of academics in Australia at Bachelor level and above (Diploma holders are NOT eligible).
  • Study, your field of study does NOT affect your eligibility.
  • Have cleared all requirements of a CRICOS-registered course.
  • Give the reference number of your Certificate of Sponsorship.
  • Submit proof of your English language proficiency.
  • Furnish your passport copy or any other document identity proof.
  • Submit details of your job title and the annual salary you will earn.
