The Goethe-Zertifikat tests four German language skills: Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking, with the exam format, duration and difficulty increasing from A1 to C2. The Goethe-Zertifikat A1 to C2 does not expire. However, universities, employers and immigration authorities may require a certificate issued within the last two years, so check the requirements of the organisation accepting your certificate before submitting an older result.
For B1 to C2 modular exams, you can retake only the module you did not pass. A1 and A2 are non-modular, so you need to retake the complete exam if you do not pass. Step 1: Choose the test and level

Step 2: Find a test centre and date
Register through the official testing organisation and choose an available test centre, exam date and format.
Step 3: Complete registration and payment

Step 4: Attend the exam
Take your valid photo ID to the test centre and complete the required components, which may include Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking.
