How to move to Dubai from the UK

  • In UAE, Dubai, in particular, has emerged as a desirable option to immigrate after BREXIT.
  • Each UAE Emirate (including Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah) has specific requirements for migrants moving in.
  • If you wish to migrate to UAE as an expatriate, you require a work visa sponsored by an employer after you get a job offer.
  • You can work and live in Dubai (the most preferred destination) on a residence visa, valid for 2 years working in the private sector and 3 years working in the public sector.
  • You can also migrate from the UK on a dependent visa if you have close family living in the UAE.
  • You can apply for a student visa if you wish to study in the UAE or an investor visa as an entrepreneur if you want to set up a business with 100% ownership across 13 industries.
  • If you are migrating to Dubai on a dependent visa as a parent, your sponsor (already a resident) must have a minimum salary of AED 20,000/month.
  • If you are already a UAE resident planning to bring your wife or minor children, siblings, or in-laws to the UAE as their sponsor, you must have a minimum stable monthly salary between AED 3,000 and 10,000.
  • You can also move to Dubai/UAE with a property ownership residence permit valid for 3 years, provided you buy a property valued at AED 1 million and at least AED 5 million for a longer-term visa. In both cases, you have a right to ownership for 99 years.
  • You can also permanently migrate to the UAE/Dubai with a 10-year 'golden visa' residency permit introduced in 2019 that is easily renewable every 10 years.
  • UAE laws require you to be a highly skilled professional like a doctor, sportsperson, scientist, or artist to be eligible for a ‘Golden Visa.’
  • The UAE government has also introduced a new retirement visa, valid for 5 years, that is renewable. You must be at least 55 and have previously worked in Dubai/UAE.
  • You must also show the end of service/retirement letter from your previous employer in UAE/Dubai to be eligible for the visa.
  • You can also sponsor your spouse and kids under your retirement visa, which is renewable after 1 year, provided they have health insurance coverage in the UAE.
