If the immigration officer is satisfied with the documents you submit at the POE alongside the application; then the officer may print your work permit right at the POE. This will allow you to use your Canadian work visa permit immediately when you enter Canada from the POE.

It allows you to work for any employer located anywhere in Canada.
Generally, migrant workers like you who plan to extend their Canada work visa permit need to apply online. Ideally, this application for permit extension must be sent at least 30 days before the expiry date of the current work visa permit. However, you have until the last day of the expiry of your work permit to apply for its extension.
Yes, if you are an international student in Canada, you may be eligible to work while studying. This is possible only if your study visa permit has a condition mentioning that you are allowed to work on and off campus in Canada. In such a case, you don't need a separate work permit to work.
Working as an international student in Canada, you can earn money to support yourself, covering your expenses to a great extent. As an international student in Canada, you can work on-campus if you have a valid study permit, are enrolled at a Designated Learning Institution as a full-time student, and have a Social Insurance Number (SIN).
As an international student in Canada, you can work off-campus, provided you have a valid study permit. You also need to have a SIN; study full-time for a post-secondary academic, professional, or vocational study program that's at least 6 months long. If you are studying in Quebec, only a secondary-level vocational training program allows you to work off-campus.
Suppose your study visa permit doesn't allow you to work in Canada, but you feel that you are above the least eligibility criteria; then you are free to request the Canadian immigration authorities to add the condition to work in your study permit.
