Project engineers use their technical and engineering knowledge to manage a project from initiation till the closure. They estimate timelines, schedules, risks, and costs related to the technical aspects of the projects. Some of their tasks are similar to management-level duties, such as supervising and training project staff.

  1. Project engineers need a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  2. Some positions will consider candidates without a degree if they have enough relevant work experience, but degrees are strongly preferred.
  3. Entry-level positions prefer candidates with an Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate, with higher-level positions requiring or preferring candidates with professional engineers (PE) licensing and a few years of engineering experience.
  4. Knowledge of Microsoft office suite is generally required, and an experience with scheduling software is preferred.

Pay scale:

The pay package of a project engineer ranges between €25,010 – €76,985 and the median pay being €47,508.
