The front desk receptionist is the first line of contact with those who contact the office, including visitors, customers, and the general public. As the position requires a great deal of interaction with people, a socially outgoing and gregarious person would do well in the job. The receptionist will greet and respond to all manner of inquiries (in person, by phone, or by other means such as mail or email) from customers, visitors, and the general public, as well as announce visitors and keep a log of office guests.
- Perform administrative support tasks; proofreading, typing, operating calculators, facsimile machine and computers.
- Operate telephone switchboard to answer, screen, route calls and relays messages.
- Greet and answer inquiries for general public, customers and visitors; announce and log visitors.
