Civil engineers plan, design and construct buildings in the areas of building construction and industrial construction. In addition they coordinate and supervise the construction.
They work primarily in construction companies, housing associations or in public service. Moreover they also work with manufacturers of building materials.
Germany has a high demand for civil engineers. There are more vacancies than qualified professionals to fill them. As there is a shortage of such professionals in the local labour market, the country is inviting professionals from abroad provided one meets the necessary qualification.
A degree in civil engineering is expected.
For leadership positions or for specialized tasks/ activities in science and technology, master’s degree is required subsequent to bachelor’s degree.
Since it’s a regulated profession, membership in a Country Chamber of Engineers and the entry in the local list of ‘consulting engineers’ is a requirement to practice as a civil engineer.
Monthly salary may vary between € 2,832 to € 5,019.
